With the Dust issue, Gothesque Jr. delved into history almost 90 years. This issue is full of emotion, and artistic inspiration drawn from when dust bowl hit. During this time many fled their homes, never to return leaving the homestead abandoned. 7,000 parished and the land and way of life was destroyed on top of The Great Depression which hit just before the dust. To say it was a difficult time would be an understatement but the American spirit persevered.
Dust was also the test run for a new type of submissions for Gothesque Jr. We opened up a certain number of spots and once they filled the issue closed as opposed to having set dates. We plan to use it for special issues in the future!
