Broken Bird is a visual story photographed by Kimberley Sol Photography featuring the model Hella Maenad ( instagram.com/hellamaenad ). Isil Creations applied special effect body paint, and Lorraine Kühnen ( facebook.com/lorraine.kuhnen ) completed the makeup and hair. In these images, you see a masked woman with broken wings. Where have her wings gone, and will she survive?
This work found its way to Gothesque by way of a magazine submission and Broken Bird initially appeared in Vol.1 of our April 2016 release, themed with Masks.
Kimberly Sol and her team created soft and delicate work in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. The focus of this editorial shows the pain and anguish left after the breaking and similarly the severing of wings.
Initially, this female photographer was first inspired to create photographic work like Broken Bird at the age of seven. She wants to devote more time to her passion instead of studying/working and is now focused on precisely that.
Further more finding new locations, models, and everything in between is a necessity for creating her artistic vision. This artist is drawn to Polaroids and partially collapsed buildings; preferring to create in natural and urban areas.
